At the center of our research activities is the question of how to apply digital technologies in business contexts, and create innovation in products, services, business models, and workflows. We examine the applications and effects of digital technologies at the level of the individual, the team, the company, and across entire industries and cross-company value chains.
Research at the DBU is at the same time the foundation for research-led teaching and a scientific education in the Humboldtian tradition. The continuous integration of current findings and challenges from our research into our teaching ensures up-to-date and forward-looking study content. Through this, you will develop — in addition to subject-specific competence — the methodological competence to independently tackle new questions, including in professional contexts.
We measure the success of our research not only by recognition within the scientific community but also by its concrete value for practice. This is reflected in the application orientation and practical relevance of our research topics, and in the importance we place on transferring our findings into business and society. We achieve this knowledge transfer through, among other things, research collaborations with companies and associations and through actively communicating our insights to broader parts of society.
